Story

I am training for the Tassie East Coast Challenge 2018 with 25000spins, a non-profit program that matches an adventure with a good cause.

I am fundraising for the ADRA CHOICES program in Cambodia.  The project focuses on improving health and well-being for 60 rural communities in the Bakan district in western Cambodia.
ADRA works with communities and families to enable parents and caregivers to better understand household hygiene, sanitation and feeding practices. Families also receive training about sustainable livelihoods so they can provide for their children.
Funds raised enable the following and more:
• Training parents in active child care – including improving child nutrition. This also resulted in men becoming more involved in parenting.
• Vocational training leading to improved livelihoods - animal raising training, rice production training, fruit and vegetable production training, business coaching, bookkeeping and marketing training.
• Providing households with improved access to sanitation resources (latrines) and safe drinking water (water purification methods).
The Fundraising: Little goes a long way when it comes to helping disadvantaged families:
• $10 can help a family purchase a water filter for clean drinking water each day.
• $25 can support a nutritional education and rehabilitation session for malnourished children
• $100 helps a family build a sanitary, sustainable household latrine..
• $250 can support a poor family to build a ring well to meet family and agriculture water needs.
• $400 can purchase a cow for families to access through their local cow bank.
• $7,500 per year provides community facilitators, weekly trainings in agriculture, vocations, literacy, gender, development, decision making, health, child development and numerous other topics to all village members, estimated to include the poorest 75 families in a village to lift them out of the poverty cycle.

Amazing trip! Everyone was so supportive and each level of rider was catered for. Loved it!.
